About the Event

Hosted by Dr. Steve Dischiavi.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Participants will integrate biomechanical assessment and clinical problem-solving skills in order to formulate an

appropriate treatment strategy for hip, pelvis and lower extremity conditions. Traditional paradigms of stretching and

strengthening will be challenged with innovative concepts that can be easily applied in the clinic. The result will be that

clients will benefit from receiving home exercises that are non-traditional and far removed from conventional methods,

targeting compliance and improved outcomes.

What the Participants Should Expect:

Even though this course is focused about the hip and pelvis, the global systems approach to treatment will follow the

kinematics throughout the kinetic chain which will allow the proximal control principles at the hip to be applied to other

pathologies such as knee valgus and patellofemoral pain and ACL prevention/rehab as well as foot pronation related

dysfunctions. This course has been designed with an evidence-based foundation, but there are plenty of ideas and theories that are presented that will challenge the current state of the evidence with regard to hip focused therapeutic exercise prescription. The course is heavily lab based. The participants will perform hip focused therapeutic exercises designed to improve dynamic lower extremity alignment.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• Review advanced biomechanical and pathomechanics specific to the hip & pelvis and global kinetic chain.

• View and illustrate many actual videos of athletes/patients with movement dysfunction performing exercises

• Dedicated to non-traditional hip-focused & LE exercise programs utilizing a complex systems approach with specific

attention to patient compliance.
